Kibiku Forest Plane Crash in which Internal Security Minister George Saitoti, his deputy Orwa Ojode, two pilots, and two of their bodyguards were killed was an al-shabaab attack.
The group posted on their twitter account welcoming the death of the ministers whom they referred to as ‘an evil minister’.
“Al- Shabaab welcomes the death of the evil minister upon whose authorization thousands of Muslims suffered both in Somalia and in Kenya” the Al-shabaab twitter account posting read.
Saitoti at the time of his death had played a prominent role in the campaign against Somali insurgents, which he blamed for a series of terror attacks and kidnappings on Kenyan soil.

Born in 1945 in Masailand , Professor George Saitoti 66, rose through the ranks in his career as a scholar, economist, powerful politician as an MP, Vice President and a Cabinet minister.
He has been outstanding as the Kenya’s longest serving Vice President under the former President Daniel Arap Moi. He worked in the office for 13 years.
Saitoti attended Ololua Primary School, Mang’u High School in Thika, he received his undergraduate education at Brandeis University between 1963 and 1967.
His political career started way back in 1983 when he was nominated as a Member of Parliament and appointed Minister for Finance the same year by the then president.
Prior to joining politics, he was a professor of mathematics and headed the Mathematics Department at the University of Nairobi in 1976.
