During a campaign rally for Bukoto south constituency Parliamentary by-elections, DP party president, Nobert Mao promised to resign if the party candidate loses to the NRM counterpart.

Mathias Nsubuga is representing Democratic Party (DP) while Alintuma Nsambu is representing National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the Bukoto south constituency parliamentary seat.

“I will resign if Nsubuga loses this election. We cannot lose this race to a candidate like Alintuma Nsambu,” Mao said. He added saying that it would be a shame for Nsubuga to lose in his own home area.

The campaign rally took place at Kiwangala trading centre in Kissekka sub-county, Lwengo district. In attendance was the Kampala mayor Elias Lukwago, Masaka municipality MP Mathias Mpuga, Kalungu west MP Gonzanga Ssewungu, Mityana north MP Ssozzi Kaddu Mukasa, Bukomansimbi district Woman MP Susan Nakawuki and the East African Legislative Assembly MP, Mukasa Mbidde.

NRM party members present at the rally were Nsangi sub-county NRM chairman Hajji Abdu Kiyimba and the Lwengo district councilor Abdu Kabuga.

The seat for Bukoto south constituency was left vacant after court nullified the election of Hajji Muyanja Mbabali from NRM in the 2011 election because of his fake academic papers.

During the rally, Mao revealed that talks with Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to let Nsubuga represent opposition failed which saw FDC bring Julius Ssentamu as their flag bearer. “We had embarked on talks with FDC in Najanankumbi until when we resolved to go to the Bukoto south battle ground on our own,” he said.

Lukwago told the people that Nsambu is undisciplined who did not deserve to be elected by the people of Buganda kingdom. “Lets teach Nsambu a lesson that he will never forget. If you see Nsambu chase him away, do not receive rejects here,” Lukwago said.
