Bank of India on Monday opened business in Uganda. Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka cut a ribbon to declare the bank open for business .
Bank of India first came to Uganda in 1953 but it left after President Idi Amin’s attack on Indian’s businesses in Uganda in 1970′s.
Ray. Global BOI chairman and Managing Director Alok Misra witnessed the opening of the bank , as well as executives from neighbouring Kenya.
Misra said the bank would partner with worthy businesses to provide them with loans that will help the economy to grow fast.
“We are a fully-fledged commercial banking entity with experience globally, on the continent, in the region, and indeed this country,” BOI Managing Director Rakesh Sehgal.
