Police is set to block A4C rally in Kalerwe which has been organised by Kawempe Mayor Bernard Munyagwa.

The police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba  said that the Police will not allow any rally to take place at Kalerwe because it will interrupt with business and traffic in the area.

She said that is the A4C agree on changing the venue the police is ready to provide security to them.

She added that the police cannot allow a rally in a market neither at the main road side because it will interrupt with business. She advised them to look for another open venue.

However, the organiser of the rally Bernard Munyagwa opposed this and said that the police have no right to stop the rally but only to provide security to them.

He said he informed the police in writing about the rally and only asked them for security not their opinion.

Munyagwa said they cannot change the rally to another venue or cancel it out because they have already booked the public address system and the main issues to be aired out are for the people of Kalerwe (Makerere 3). He said they are to talk about how they are to cop with the rainy season to avoid deaths like last year.

He added that he is the mayor of Kawempe division and no one has a right to stop him from addressing his people about the most pressing issues.

Ingrid Turinawe, Head of FDC women Wing and member A4C said that they will  continue protecting the people from what she called dictatorship. She said that though they were hurt yesterday during the scuffle with police at Kayembe Football ground in Katwe, they will continue sensitizing the people about the bad side of the government.

Kampala Woman MP Nabila Naggayi has said that they will continue to fight for the country. Nabila and Francis Mwijukye, Dr. Besigye’s Political assistant are still admitted at case clinic after being injured during the Katwe scuffle yesterday.
