LC3 Chairman Charged With Stealing a Cow

Coronel Kafureeka, the LC3 chairperson of Rubindi Sub-country in Mbarara district, was on recently charged with stealing a cow.

Kafureeka and Sulait Muhumuza a businessman of Mutima Murungi village in Rubindi, are suspected to have stolen a cow belonging to Hanningtom Tumuhairwe.

Mbarara Grade Two Magistrate’s court heard that the suspects stole the cow valued at sh1.2m

However, court could not allow the suspects to enter plea, saying the case was beyond its Jurisdiction.

Prosecution said Kafureeka and Muhumuza were arrested. This was after the arrest of other accomplices; Grace Katushabe and Meni Sseguya who were charged in Ibanda district.

Kafureeka later said that he was beingĀ  witch hunted by his political rivals.

“They framed me to tarnish my name. No one has evidence that I stole a cow,” Kafureeka said.

Kafureeka and Muhumuza were part of the 120 suspects arrested in Mbarara over various crimes during the police operation. The operation was led by the Police director of operations, Grace Turyagumanawe.
